Makers Of Barbie Have Unveiled Dolls Of Famous Personalities Ahead Of Women’s Day

To mark ‘International Women’s day’, Mattel the maker of Barbie, has released a new series of dolls named ‘Inspiring Women.’ These dolls came about after Mattel did a survey of 8,000 mothers around the world. According to the survey 86% of mothers were worried about the kind of role models their children were looking up to.  This survey formed the basis of the creation of these dolls. Each doll will come with educational information of each woman behind the creation of these beautiful dolls. A few dolls that are already doing the rounds are inspired by Frida Kahlo, Amelia Earhart and Katherine Johnson. They look pretty awesome and closely resemble the real icons.

Amelia Earheart was the first female aviator to fly across the Atlantic ocean. Frida Kahlo was the famous Mexican artist and Katherine Johnson was the pioneer in mathematics who broke all barriers when it came to gender and race. That’ not all. A ‘Shero’ line has also been released, honouring 14 modern day role models. They include director Patty Jenkins and US snowboarder Chloe Kim who recently won the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

Indeed, this was a good initiative by the makers of Barbie to celebrate womanhood and female role models, ahead of women’s day celebrations. They’ve also honoured fashion designers, journalists, actresses and entrepreneurs. Marissa Beck- the spokeswoman for Mattel wrote to CNN "The Inspiring Women Series pays tribute to incredible heroines of their time; courageous women who took risks, changed rules, and paved the way for generations of girls to dream bigger than ever before.”

The creation of these dolls is an ‘out of the box’ idea to help younger girls and boys to get motivated and inspired by famous and successful personalities. It’s a unique way of moulding a child’s personality at a tender age so that they grow up to become healthy and successful individuals. These dolls will be mass produced and sold in stores soon. They are for pre-sale now on the Barbie website.
