E-commerce platforms are offering discounted prices on products that are exorbitantly expensive. Moreover, the festive offers on some of the most popular e-commerce platforms further allow users to obtain products at a much cheaper price.

A 30-year-old delivery executive was allegedly killed as he charged money for the iPhone, ordered through cash on delivery. The incident happened on Monday when two people allegedly killed the delivery executive and dumped his body in a canal nearby. The state disaster team has been deployed to locate and extract the body.

The deputy commissioner of police claimed that a person named Gajanan had ordered an iPhone worth 1.5 lakhs through Flipkart and opted for a cash-on-delivery method. Flipkart did not offer cash on delivery on such high amounts earlier, however, after some changes in the policies, Flipkart started delivering COD orders with higher payable amounts.

The deputy commissioner also claimed that “On September 23, a delivery boy, Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, went to deliver the phone at his place where he was killed by Gajanan and his accomplice. After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed of it in the Indira Canal."

As Sahoo did not return home for two consecutive days, a missing complaint was registered by the family at Chinhat police station. Sahu’s mobile was scanned where multiple numbers were found. Based on the last call, the police found out Gajanan's location and could get through his friend Akash.

Upon investigation, Akash confessed to committing the heinous crime. He then agreed to dump the body in the Canal.
