Mr. Shukla, 87, expressed that he was happy to receive the call on the immunization program by UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. He said that it is his duty to receive the vaccine.

“When I received a telephone call, I was very excited that I got the opportunity of joining in and taking part”, he told Reuters.
“I'm so pleased we are hopefully coming towards the end of this pandemic and I am delighted to be doing my bit by having the vaccine, I feel it is my duty to do so and do whatever I can to help,” Hari Shukla who is from Tyne and Wear told PTI.
“It's a big relief because it's not an ordinary crisis”, he expressed.
“I'm not nervous, or anything like that. I'm looking forward”, he added.
Some of the first people who would receive the vaccine on priority when it will be dispensed on Tuesday are senior citizens above the age of 80, care home workers and their carers, and health care workers.
Speaking about the mass vaccination program, UK President Boris Johnson said, “Today marks a huge step forward in the UK's fight against coronavirus, as we begin delivering the vaccine to the first patients across the whole country. I am immensely proud of the scientists who developed the vaccine, members of part in trials, and the NHS who have worked tirelessly to prepare for rollout.”
Besides congratulating the country for its huge achievement, Boris Johnson also warned citizens to be careful and practice social distancing during these times.
Tuesday will be marked as ‘V Day’ or Vaccine Day’ in the UK.
