Meghan Markle Comes up with Her First Children’s Book ‘The Bench’

Meghan Markle has come up with a children’s book called the ‘The Bench’ which is inspired by the relationship between Prince Harry and their son Archie.

The book has been illustrated by award-winning illustrator Christian Robinson and will be narrated by Meghan in the audio book edition.

It depicts the special bond between fathers and sons from diverse groups and it has been narrated from the perspective of a mother.

Meghan said in a statement, “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born.”

“That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens,” she adds.

“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

The book will be published on June 8 by Random House Children’s Books (RHCB) in the U.S and by Puffin (an imprint of Penguin Random House Children’s UK) in the UK.

The book is one of the several projects that Meghan and Harry announced since stepping away from their royal duties.
