Melania Trump Becomes the First First Lady to Fly in Osprey Aircraft
During this trip, she flew from the Joint base of Anacostia Bolling in Washington to Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton Virginia then onto the deck of the USS George HW Bush, the Navy’s 1,092-foot long warship.
US first lady Melania Trump has made a history this Wednesday, flying over areas of the Atlantic Ocean and Virginia in a V-22 Osprey, becoming the first, first lady to do so.
Osprey Aircraft is a massive military flight machine that can fly long ranges like a plane with the ability to land and take off like a helicopter. During this trip, she flew from the Joint base of Anacostia Bolling in Washington to Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton Virginia then onto the deck of the USS George HW Bush, the Navy’s 1,092-foot long warship, which is also powered by two nuclear reactors and back.
During her trip, she said, “I’m honored to be able to say welcome home and thank you for answering the call of duty. I have said this before, but it’s worth repeating. We know that we are free because you’re brave. And I speak on behalf of my husband when I tell you we are forever grateful for your service”.
In Joint Base Langley Eustis, in Hampton, Virginia, she also met and greeted the military families. While preparing to visit the approximately 600 service members at Langley Eustis, Melania Trump said, “When preparing for this stop, I learned that this base is more than 100 years old, and has a long history of excellence. I also learned that the airmen and soldiers in this room have stepped up after natural disasters, like Hurricane Michael, and that many of you have recently returned home from deployment. I am honored to be able to say welcome home and thank you for answering the call of duty”.
After the first lady’s visit to the base, this Wednesday, a statement from the base is released which said, “children from Burbank and Bethel Manor Elementary schools, Airmen from the 63rd Air Base Wine, 1st Fighter Wing and 192nd Wing, and Soldiers from the 7th Transportation Brigade from JBLE- Eustis”.
She also spent some time high fiving a group of children, who were waiting for her arrival. She asked the kids, “What are you asking Santa for Christmas?” to which a group of the children responded, “Puppies!” and all laughed.
Melania Trump also went across a personal tour of the Air Force’s F-22 Raptor fighter jet, which is a part of the stealth fleet. Not much is disclosed about her last leg of the trip, as the first lady’s visit to the USS George H.W. Bush was kept closed to the media.
