Michelle Obama Wins Grammy for ‘Becoming’ Audio Book

Along with the music stalwarts like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Lil Nas X, this year Michelle Obama also grab the eyes of everyone, when the former first lady won Grammy Award for the audiobook of her memoir ‘Becoming’.

This is another feather to the former first lady’s cap as she becomes a Grammy winner, after she won the award on the music’s biggest night for ‘Best Spoken Word Album’ category, for the audiobook of her memoir ‘Becoming’.

Michelle’s win also gives the Obama household its third Grammy Award, as former US President Barack Obama has already won two Grammys in the same category for his books.

Winning the Grammy was not that easy for Michelle Obama, as she had to face an eccentric group of rivals that include Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys for ‘Beastie Boys Book’ and John Waters, the director performer who is known for his trans aggressive cult films, for ‘Mr. Know-It-All’.

Michelle’s Memoir ‘Becoming’ was released in late 2018. In the book she also slammed, US President Donald Trump for questioning the citizenship status of her husband, trying to promote the notion that he was born abroad.

Obama wrote, “The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed”.

In the book, America’s first black first lady also recorded in details her personal life expounding on issues such as a miscarriage, using in-vitro fertilization to conceive her daughters and marriage counseling. She wrote the book with care from the core of her heart, thus making it as one of the most popular book.

Others, who won the Grammy Award also includes Billie Eilish’s older brother Finneas, who was picked up in the best-engineered album (non-classical) category for his work on his sister’s debut album. Music composer Hildur Guonadottir also won the award for best score soundtrack for the visual media “Chernobyl.” Guonadottir won an Emmy last year for composing the TV series and she is also nominated for an Oscar for her work on “Joker”.

Beyoncé also won an early Grammy this year. The star was picked up for best music film, Netflix special “Homecoming.” It was her 24th Grammy Award.

Other former White House dwellers who won Grammy Awards apart from Obamas include President Clinton, who won the award twice for spoken word and was also nominated twice for the Award, beside him President Carter and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, who won the award once. Presidents Kennedy and Nixon were also nominated once each.
