Close to 6 security personnel lost their lives while fighting with the militants in an operation in Kathua. Two militants have also been killed in the gunfight, and a few are still believed to be active in the area. Army and special forces are still trying to hunt for the active militants. As per the reports, Sub Divisional Police Officer Dheeraj Singh Khatoj and Special Operation Group Officer Bharat Chalotra received bullet injuries as they were moving ahead towards the militant hideout.

The militants hiding in the spot opened fire on the police personnel, which injured the two. Shortly after, they were taken to the hospital, where their condition was declared to be stable. The establishment of the event started in the morning when the security was already battling with a militant group in Juthana Safan. The militants being identified later are believed to be of the same group who were also spotted near Sanyal Village. The two hideouts are at a distance of around 35 kilometers.

As per sources, the Militants had entered through Pakistan and crossed the International boundary to enter India. The NSG forces were also sent to join the combat, including hi tech gadgets and tools around the attack site to ensure constant surveillance. Despite the thick jungles, the forces continued to battle and neutralise the threats.

Official sources have claimed that the militants were spotted near Doda-Khsitwar, and it is assumed that they were travelling upwards towards Chenab valley as they were the fresh set of infiltrators. Sources also confirmed that the infiltrators were travelling towards the upper side to make the base during the summers.

“Since terrorists were spotted on Sunday, security forces have been chasing them and again engaged them on Monday morning. Security forces will neutralise all of them. Meanwhile, one of the injured jawan at the Kathua hospital is stable,” claimed MLA of Kathua Bharat Bhushan. He also claimed that the issue of frequent militant activities in the region will be raised.

The police did not share any form of information regarding the militants and their condition. Moreover, the bodies of the militants were not retrieved till Thursday evening. A BJP Spokesperson claimed that “J&K BJP salutes the three braveheart J&K Police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation during the encounter in Kathua district. Their courage and dedication to the motherland will always be remembered. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
