The Pataudi family has been trending in the news for quite some time now. This is because Sharmila Tagore recently celebrated her birthday and the family had taken a vacation a couple of days back. Now, what has caught the attention of netizens is an interesting conversation between daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor and mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore. Daughter-in-law and mother-in-law conversations are hot topics and turn out to be interesting and engaging most of the time.
In the radio chat show hosted by Kareena Kapoor, she posed some amazing questions to Sharmila Tagore, the answers to which most of us would like to know. Sharmila for her part did justice to all the answers keeping in mind her years of experience, her poise, and her graceful demeanor.
Kareena asked Sharmila who is her favorite grandchild among Taimur Ali Khan, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. To this Sharmila replied that there all her grandchildren and they are different from each other. She’s grateful that she has two little grandkids and two grown-ups and therefore she’s enjoying them both. She’s impressed with Sara’s interviews and is immensely proud of her while Ibrahim is a complete Pataudi who is tall and loves cricket.
The next question was what according to her is the difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law. Sharmila’s answer to this was spot on! Daughter is someone with whom you’ve grown up with. You’ve already gauged her temperament and you know what makes her angry and consequently, you know how to deal with her.
On the contrary, the daughter-in-law is someone who is already an adult so you know don’t know much about her and therefore it takes time to build up a rapport with her. What was striking about Sharmila’s answer was when she said that a daughter-in-law is someone who is coming to “your home” and “so you need to make her feel more comfortable.” I’m sure that Sharmila’s replies will resonate with most families and they can take a cue from her answers.
Another important tip that the veteran actress shared regarding marriage was that the small things we ignore before marriage turn out to be the bigger things in the future. For instance, she is very fond of fish however her husband hated fish. She said that they were fonder of rotis and phulkas. “These are the kind of adjustment one has to do. Although they seem very minor, in the long run, they really are not.”
So, these were some of the simple but “significant-to-life” opinions shared between two talented, graceful and glamorous women belonging to two different generation gaps yet belonging to the same family.
