Mother Kills Daughter, by Leaving Her in Hot Car for Hours, to Clean Her of Demons

A woman from California has been sent to prison for killing her daughter Maiya by leaving her in a hot car for ten hours to clean her of demons. 

The lady by the name of Angela Phakhin, 29, and her fiance Untwan Smith, 48, have been pressed with charges of murder of their three-year-old daughter. 

The pair had moved to California in February 2016 from Arkansas and since then all three of them have been living in their SUV. 

The parents believed that their daughter was possessed by demons and in order to cleanse her, they subjected her to high temperatures of heat over a two week period in June 2017. She was left in her car for four-and-a-half hours on one occasion and nine- a- half-hours on another occasion which ultimately resulted in her untimely death. 

It is being said that the mother had been repeatedly warned by outsiders to take their daughter to a cooling shelter prior to her daughter’s death but she didn’t pay heed.

The Rancho Cordova police officers discovered the couple’s car parked wrongly and thus arrested the couple on June 28, 2017, on Rod Beaudry Drive. Upon further investigation, the police also discovered that Smith had an outstanding warrant from Arkansas. 

While searching the vehicle, Maiya was discovered under blankets in the back seat. She was pronounced dead. 

“After Maiya’s death, Phakhin told law enforcement that she and Smith were trying to remove the lustful demons from Maiya,” a statement from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office alleges.

Angela Phakin had been convicted in June for the first-degree murder of her own daughter however the sentence of 25 years to life in prison was pronounced last Friday in Sacramento, California. 

The father- Untwan Smith has not entered a plea to the charges filed against him and he’s awaiting trial.
