Multiple Delhi Schools Face Bomb Threats for Third Time in a Week
Six Delhi schools received bomb threats via e-mail, the third such incident in four days. While all turned out to be hoaxes, officials intensified their vigilance, stressing the importance of children’s safety and tracing the culprits behind the digital menace.
New Delhi: At least six schools in the national capital were jolted by bomb threats on Thursday morning, triggering panic and urgent mobilization of security forces. According to an official from the Delhi Fire Services, the alarming messages arrived via email, prompting a coordinated search operation involving multiple emergency departments.
The threatening calls were reported between 6:35 am and 7:48 am. The affected institutions include Andhra School in Prasad Nagar, BGS International School, Rao Man Singh School, Convent School, Max Fort School, and Indraprastha International School, Dwarka, as per officials.
Following the alerts, police units, accompanied by fire brigades and specialized bomb disposal squads, immediately rushed to the campuses. Intensive inspections were carried out to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff members. Authorities emphasized that all safety protocols were activated without delay to neutralize any potential danger.
This disturbing episode marks the third such instance within just four days. Earlier in the week, on Monday, as many as 32 schools across Delhi had been targeted with similar threats, which were later confirmed to be hoaxes. Once again on Wednesday, nearly 50 schools were hit with bomb threat emails, which eventually proved baseless.
Officials noted that while the threats have so far turned out to be spurious, each incident creates unnecessary fear among parents and disruptions in academic routines. Experts describe these repeated false alarms as a form of psychological warfare, causing anxiety, uncertainty, and chaos. Authorities are now working to trace the source of these e-mails, with cybercrime specialists also engaged in the investigation.
Despite the menace, officials have reassured parents that stringent vigilance is being maintained, and children’s safety remains the foremost priority. Schools have been asked to stay on high alert and strengthen their security systems to prevent any vulnerabilities.
The frequency of these hoax warnings highlights the need for stricter deterrents against such cyber misconduct. It also underscores how digital platforms, if misused, can create widespread disarray.
