Mumtaz Remembers Dharmendra: A Heartfelt Tribute to an Irreplaceable Legend
Mumtaz pays an emotional tribute to Dharmendra, recalling their memories, his warmth, and his legendary status. She expresses sympathy for Hema Malini and honours the irreplaceable actor’s remarkable life and legacy.
Veteran actress Mumtaz, who shared the screen with Dharmendra in classics like Jheel Ke Us Paar and Loafer(both released in 1973), recently opened up about her cherished memories with the late superstar. In a candid conversation, she revealed that she attempted to visit him at Mumbai’s Breach Hospital but could not meet him because he was on a ventilator.
“I went to see him, but the staff informed me that no visitors were allowed. I waited for around 30 minutes, hoping I might still get a glimpse of him, but unfortunately, I couldn’t. I left with a heavy heart,” Mumtaz told ETimes.
She recalled meeting Dharmendra in 2021 at his residence, which became their final interaction. “It was such a warm and pleasant meeting. I had no idea it would be our last,” she shared, remembering him with deep affection.
Mumtaz also expressed her condolences toward Dharmendra’s wife, Hema Malini. “I feel deeply for his family and for Hema ji. She was devoted to him in every sense. She must be experiencing an enormous void. She truly loved him,” Mumtaz said.
Reflecting on their time together, she described Dharmendra as a remarkable human being, milansar, kind-hearted, and effortlessly warm. “He was always a wonderful co-star. A man with a golden heart. People adored him then, and they adore him even now. He maintained beautiful relationships with everyone. He was a legend—unique, unforgettable, and irreplaceable.”
On Tuesday, Mumtaz shared a heartfelt photo series featuring Dharmendra along with Anju Mahendru, Poonam Sinha, Jackie Shroff, Danny Denzongpa, Talat Aziz, and herself. “Dharam ji, you were and will always be with us. Rest in peace,” she wrote.
