Narcotics Worth 1800 Crore Found off Gujarat Coast
Another drug movement was stopped by the Indian Coast Guard and ATS. 300 kilograms of Narcotic drugs were spotted, smugglers dumped and they fled the international waters.
India has become very strict with narcotics, and now many different agencies are working independently to eradicate the usage and selling of drugs. The year 2025 has been extremely challenging for the Narcotics Bureau, as many cases are reported. “Drug free Bharat” Initiative is being seriously looked upon for which Government has come up with various strategies.
300 kilograms of Narcotics, which is valued at 1800 crore, has been found off the Gujrat Coast after the Indian Coast Guard busted the biggest drug deal on April 12th and 13th. The Indian Coast Guard could spot an ICG ship, and upon approaching the ship, the smugglers dumped the drugs in the water and fled the international maritime land Boundary. The contraband was then recovered and handed over to the ATS.
The initiative of Drug-Free Bharat has led to spontaneous acts of eradication of the drugs across India. Recently, 30 KG of MDMA Pills were recovered from Assam post, and HM Amit Shah had claimed that the Narendra Modi Government has forced down the active drug cartels and it will continue to force the agencies to get rid of the drug cartels.
Till now, the years 2024 and 2025 have contributed to more than 16,000 crores of drugs in India. The data comes after NCB and police forces have effectively managed the seizure. In a span of 10 years, starting from 2004 to 2014, more than 10,000 crore worth of drugs have been busted. The data could be a lot more if there was enough information about the cartels. He strongly supports the various branches of the Narcotics Control Bureau and also claims their immense support.
A few days back, a Nigerian individual was caught in Gujarat who was smuggling cocaine valued at 1.49 crores. The woman claimed that she did not have any idea regarding the package, and she was given the parcel by someone in Mumbai. Her role in the entire operation was to transport the drug from Mumbai to Kadodara. The SMC team was able to intercept the woman and apprehended her red-handed.
After a detailed interrogation, it was found that she supplied drugs to more than 12 people in one and a half years. The people belonged to Gujarat and Mumbai. The police believe that ther are more people involved in the matter and the probe is on to nab more such individuals.
