NASA Spacecraft Creates History by Passing through Sun’s Atmosphere

NASA has created history! The Parker Solar Probe which was launched by NASA became the first spacecraft to fly through the outer atmosphere of the sun.

It dipped into the Corona region for just a short while. The aim is to get in and get out as quick as possible in order to make solar assessments.

The spacecraft had to withstand intense heat and radiation.

The feat was made on April 28 however it was confirmed only after data analysis.

“Parker Solar Probe “touching the Sun” is a monumental moment for solar science and a truly remarkable feat,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

The American Space Agency told on Tuesday that the spacecraft flew through the sun’s upper atmosphere Corona and sampled the magnetic fields and particles there.

The spacecraft moves at a stunning speed of over 500,000kmph.

The Parker Solar Probe was launched three years ago and its goal is to make closer passes of the sun.

According to scientists this feat and future solar observations would help us to discover more about the sun and its influence on the solar system.
