Nearly 23000 Devices Go Missing Every Month: Kaspersky Lab

The holiday season is round the corner, and it means that millions of people are getting ready for a trip abroad. And while they are on holiday, many will be taking the opportunity to capture precious memories of their time away. Interestingly, a recent consumer research by Kaspersky Lab suggests that every one-in-five (18 percent) says photos and videos of their travel are the most important forms of data stored on their devices. This type of data trumps all others. However, in additional research by the company, 28 percent said that if they lost their devices, or had them stolen, they would never be able to replace those precious holiday photos.

The company has rolled out an Anti-Theft feature in its Kaspersky Internet Security for Android products. And the latest statistics from Kaspersky Lab indicates that an astounding 1.5 times every minute on average, around 23,000 Android devices are being reported lost or stolen a month. Significantly, the photos of travel are being rated the most important to users out of all other data stored on their devices. And at this outset, Kaspersky Lab keeps warning people to treat their precious holiday snaps with utmost care. And they can do that by properly protecting the devices. These photographs are captured and stored across the summer season.

Another recent study by Kaspersky Lab shows that overall, 4 percent of people around the world have lost a device or had one stolen. What’s more, for over half (57 percent) of those people, it's Android devices that were affected, followed by laptop computers (29 percent) and Apple iPhones (21 percent). From the consumers’ point of view what is most disturbing is that on an average, a lost or stolen device can cost $485 to replace.
