Netflix to Tap India’s Growing Content Biz through Tata Sky

Nasdaq-listed Netflix, a globally leading internet-based entertainment service company, will now tap India’s growing content business through a strategic partnership with Tata Sky, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Century Fox and one of India’s leading content distribution platforms. One of the greatest advantages of this new partnership for the subscribers of both Tata Sky and Netflix will be that they will now have easy access to a world of contents through future platforms of Tata Sky.

As per the new arrangement, Tata Sky subscribers in India will be able to browse and access the entire range of services from the Netflix stable, including TV shows, films, documentaries, stand-up comedy and kid’s titles. Consider what Netflix’s service portfolio includes-- over a thousand hours of ultra HD content, complementing Tata Sky’s extensive high-quality programming.

Tata Sky’s partnership with Netflix promises to add another dimension to providing world-wide quality content on-demand for its subscribers. Keeping up with the company ’s promise of pioneering innovation, it will shortly come up with the offering that is possible with this partnership. The company is looking forward to keep offering an extraordinary entertainment experience to all its subscribers through its association with Netflix, said Harit Nagpal, managing director and CEO of ‎Tata Sky Ltd.

Netflix, at present, has 125 million members in over 190 countries enjoying more than 140 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, which include original series, documentaries and feature films. At present, the members can also watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on nearly any Internet-connected screen. Interestingly, the members can also play, pause and resume watching- all without commercials or commitments.

Bill Holmes, global head of business development for Netflix, on his parts, said that the new association aims at bringing great content under the same roof. Following this new association and given the stellar line-up of original content that Netflix has from all over the world, Tata Sky's customers in India will be able to seamlessly access and enjoy all the best entertainment, they would like to have in one place.
