The Kangana Ranaut-directed film is about the Emergency declared in India from 1975 to 1977.
Followers are super impressed with Kangana’s look as the former PM. Without a doubt, Kangana resembles the late PM to the T, and many netizens strongly felt that the resemblance was somehow “uncanny.”
The movie however has landed in controversy in Madhya Pradesh even before its release.
The Congress demands to see the movie before its release and has accused the makers for portraying the former Prime Minister in wrong light.
According to News 18, Congress Media Department vice-president in MP Sangeeta Sharma called Kangana a “BJP agent” and accused her of tarnishing Mrs Indira Gandhi’s reputation on behalf of the BJP party.
Kangana shared a behind-the scenes video where she’s seen donning the director’s hat. She expressed that her instinct as a director will pay off big sometime. She said that today people want to see young film-makers, new thought processes, refreshing ideas and not the typical old formulas.
The actress and director has earlier clarified that ‘Emergency’ is not a biopic but a political drama although time will reveal whether the movie will find itself in any controversy in the future.
Going by Ranaut’s past performance in movies like ‘Woh Lamhe’, Tanu Weds Manu, Fashion and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi there are high expectations from this venture as well.
No doubt the actress is an ace artist when it comes to expressing raw emotions like pain, hurt and anger. According to film critic Subhash k Jha, Kangana Ranaut is the first actress since Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi "who isn't scared to strip her soul naked for the camera", further adding that she is a hugely expressive actress with a phenomenal ability to convey torment, hurt and incredulity through the eyes.”
She has done justice to strong female centric characters in films like Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019) and Queen (2014). The first look of ‘Emergency’ has certainly attracted audiences and raised the level of expectations from Kangana Ranaut.
