Now US President Trump Says He Has a 'Special Relationship' with Chinese President Xi

US President Donald Trump has recently declared that he had an “incredible relationship” with Chinese President Xi Jinping just before their meeting on the sideline of G20 summit. The meeting of the leaders of world’s top two economies is seen as a step towards truce in the trade sanctions, which both the nations have imposed on each other.

US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met during a high profile dinner in order to try and stop before it led to the full-fledged trade war. Just before the meeting, in order to cool down the high-tension meeting, US President Donald Trump said, “The relationship is very special. The relationship that I have with President Xi, I think that’s going to be a very primary reason we are meeting, so we very much appreciate it”.

Both the leaders expressed their optimism while discussing trade on the hotel dining table in Buenos Aires, just before Trump left for Washington after attending the summit of G20 countries.

After the meeting, Trump said, “We will probably end up ending up getting something that will be good for China and the United States”, while Xi said both the leaders shared tremendous responsibility to find a solution to the ongoing trade lock. Xi said, “Only with cooperation between us can we serve the interest of both peace and prosperity”.

At present, the United States has imposed tariffs on more than $250 billion of Chinese goods which is about half of the total imported into the United States each year, in an attempt to pressurize China to change its trade rules.

If the deal is not finalized, the US is going to increase heavy-duty tax by 25 percent which is at present 10 percent on most of the goods. As US President Donald Trump’s Economic advisor Larry Kudlow has already declared ahead of the meeting, “If things don’t work out in this US-China summit meeting, we will invoke some 267 billion dollars in additional tariffs”.

The trade war between the United States and China has also made an impact on the world economy and therefore the world leaders were hopeful that some kind of truce could be declared after the meeting. German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke on behalf of many when she said, “we all realize that we are indirectly influenced by the fact that Sino-American economic relations do not run as smoothly as a world order needs”.
