Here is the list of some of the names and categories, which have found place in the Oscar nomination list of 2019.

Oscar Nominations for the Year 2019 is out Now

The 91st Oscar nominations are announced during a presentation by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently. Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross revealed the names in 24 categories from year’s best movies.

Oscar voters have voted for Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma and Yorgos Lanthimo’s The Favourite with a leading 10 nominations to the 91st Academy Awards, while Netflix and Marvel each scored with their first best picture nomination.

Netflix has scored its first best picture nomination with Roma. While director Cuaron has tied the record for the most decorated Oscar nominee ever for one film with four awards for his black and white, memory drenched masterpiece. The Mexican born director has earned awards for direction, cinematography, original screenplay and best picture. Orson Welles (Citizen Kane) and Warren Beatty (Reds, Heaven Can Wait) have landed in four.

Yorgos Lanthimo’s The Favourite has achieved most in the acting categories, Olivia Colman in the best actress category and Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone in supporting actress category.

Marvel also joined the Oscar club with Black Panther, the first superhero movie ever to be nominated for best picture.
