Parineeti Chopra Features in the Remake of ‘Girl on the Train’. Here’s the Trailer

Parineeti Chopra is back in the Hindi remake of ‘Girl on the Train’ that will hit OTT platforms in February. 

The mystery thriller directed by Ribhu Dasgupta is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by author Paula Hawkins. Parineeti is an alcoholic divorcee Meera who seems to be stuck in an uncomfortable situation and is desperate to find her way out of it. 

The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari, Avinash Tiwari. The film would also introduce British actress Sammy Jonas Heaney. The movie was supposed to be released earlier however due to the lockdown the release date was postponed several times. 

Chopra had mentioned earlier that her role is one of a kind. It’s a character that she’s never played before and the audiences would be seeing her in a new avatar for the first time. She stated, “I am super excited to be shooting this film because this is a role that I have never experienced before, read before and I think the audience has never experienced this kind of acting piece from me.”

Emily Blunt was the protagonist in the original film and now Parineeti will be playing her character. Emily went on to receive a nomination at the 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles as well as a nomination for the BAFTA Award for the best actress in a leading role. 

The original film was a box office success grossing $173 million worldwide. Will the hindi remake score brownie points too? And will Parineeti do justice to the interesting and complex role of Meera?  Let’s wait and watch as the movie is scheduled to release on Netflix on 26 February.
