Pay 60,000 for Failing to Find A Match, Bangalore Court Asks Matrimonial Company after It Failed to Find A Match for Groom

Finding the right partner can be challenging at times when families and respective partners have to constantly assess various factors. With the introduction of new platforms, finding a suitable match has become quite easy. However, a groom’s father in Bengaluru took a matrimonial company to court as they did not find his son a suitable match, and also was ill-treated when he was asked about the services.

The court ordered the matrimonial company to pay 60,000 after they failed to comply with their promise. The complaint made by the groom's father, Kumar, claimed that he came across a matrimonial company on social media called Dil Mil. He approached the company and they assured him he to find a bride for Kumar’s son, Balaji. Moreover, they made him pay 30,000 in return for the service.

Upon enquiring, Kumar was told to wait till April end still, they could not find a match for their son. Kumar sent legal notices to the company and also alleged that the company did not respond to any of the legal notices that were sent.

The court ordered the company to 30,000 as a refund of the service with 6 percent additional interest and 20,000 compensation for bad service. Not just this but, 5000 more to be paid for mental agony and 5000 for all the legal proceedings done by Kumar.

The court also highlighted that “If the opposite party failed to appear before the court or file an affidavit from their side, the allegations can be held as proved facts.”
