Protest Petition Raised against Madhur Bhandarkar’s Upcoming Movie

Film director-producer Madhur Bhandarkar might be inviting a lot of hate mails in the upcoming days. This is purely because of his forthcoming film. As per sources, we will get introduced to a sequel film titled "Avijatrik." To break the big news, this film is a take forward to Satyajit Ray's famous "The Apu Trilogy." Needless, to say as the news broke there is a wave of revolt amongst fans. People have stated that such cult movies are not meant for adaptations.

Apu, the incredible persisting and charming character, will come back to the cinema following 60 years. In the Bengali time frame of showbiz this movie "Avijatrik," will be directed by Bengali Director Subhrajit Mitra.

The makers have come on board to introduce the movie. Bhandarkar said in an announcement: "As a director and a film buff, I have been an extraordinary admirer and devotee of Satyajit Ray and the voyage of Apu constantly entranced me. I have known Gaurang Jalan who is co-researching the film me, for over 10 years now, and expect this will be a visual treat to all film lovers comprehensively, including the Bengali diaspora."

The storyline depends on the closing piece of the epic novel "Aparajito," composed by Bengali litterateur, late Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay.

"Avijatrik" - "The Wanderlust of Apu" (in English) will be shot in a few sections of India, and in high contrast to holding the rich, stylish flavor that supplements its setting of 1940s' India. The plot will continue from where "The Apu Trilogy" had finished in 1959, with "Apur Sansar."

The new film centers around the hunger for new experiences of the fundamental hero and the account of great security between a dad and a child. The story is of Apu and his 6-year-old child Kajol.

"With a capable group of cast and team we would like to depict the wonderful embroidered artwork of unadulterated emotional connections; and reproduce the enchantment of Apu with his child, Kajol to captivate the gatherings of people once more," Jalan said.

For the fans of Satyajit Ray's The Apu Trilogy, it's sacrilege for Madhur Bhandarkar to endeavor to exhibit a film which takes forward the notorious arrangement. An online appeal has been raised to encourage the West Bengal government to spare a "treasure trove" from being "destroyed."

The news prompted online trolls.

“Frequently appraised as one of the best filmmakers ever, this arrangement is impeccable all around. Madhur Bhandarkar is endeavoring to make a fourth Apu motion picture, and I figure the administration of West Bengal can spare us from getting a fortune trove destroyed," read the request on change.org.

"The Apu Trilogy is the crown gem of Bengali film and is accordingly the pride and distinction of each Bengali. If we extend our circle, this set of three can likewise be viewed as a fortune trove for each motion picture buff of any country on the planet. If you don't mind, stop the attack of an undesirable spin-off of this arrangement, by the chance of copyright lapse," the request of petition further.

The trolls drove Bhandarkar to issue an illumination on Saturday.

The producer said, “We are not changing any of the movies that were a piece of ‘The Apu Trilogy’ made by ace director Satyajit Ray. The film which Bhandarkar Entertainment is displaying, Avijatrik, depends on the novel composed by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay on which Satyajit Ray's Apu set of three was based, and maker Gaurang Jalan has convinced the author's family and taken the rights of the book from late Shri Bandopadhyay's family."

"In Avijatrik, the Bengali movie producer Subhrajit Mitra is taking the story forward from where Ray sir left it, and the reason I chose to get related with the venture is the content and the energy with which Mitra expects to make the film. We are not touching the movies made by Satyajit Ray.“

Movie producer Pritish Nandy was among the initial few to express their sentiment on the National Award-winning producer's new task declaration.

"My companion Madhur Bhandarkar needs to take Satyajit Ray's Apu set of three ahead. My little demand: Please save Ray the disgrace. Leave him alone. He needn't bother with anybody's tribute. He is the best movie producer we have ever had. How about we do not pillage his memory," Nandy composed.

His feeling drove others to release a shock through the social media.

Movie producer Ashoke Pandit remained by Bhandarkar and gave the discussion a political bend.

Pandit kept in touch with Nandy: "Bhandarkar is a four-time National Award winning movie producer who has been motivated by the film of Ray. I don't comprehend the explanation for the trivial ridiculing against Bhandarkar. Bhandarkar's sole point is to observe Satyajit Ray and no movie producer has the right to be exposed to this sort of maltreatment for an inventive undertaking.”

"I am certain the explanation behind this abnormal conduct is identified with legislative issues. It will be ideal if you keep your filthy legislative issues out of the limits of something as devout as film, Mr. Pritish Nandy."

After Bhandarkar claimed his side of the story, Pandit tweeted: "I am certain the ones who raised the issue, in actuality have no issue with the film yet with your belief systems. These liberals would not have shouted foul on the off chance that it was Anurag Kashyap."

Still, the cast of the movie is not revealed by the makers. The film before release is facing a significant hate wave which might make the producer apprehensive of the acceptance quotient of the audience. The language of the movie is Bengali, and it is presumed that the Bengali audience will not accept this tickling of the preserved emotion related to the legendary director, Satyajit Ray.
