Punjab Cop’s Hand Successfully Reimplanted after Gruesome Attack

Punjab’s corona warrior ASI Harjeet Singh’s wrist which was severed by assailants has been successfully reimplanted by doctors on Sunday. It took seven and a half hours for the complex surgery.

The gruesome incident took place in Punjab’s Patiala when ASI Harjeet Singh was imposing lockdown orders. To contain the spread of COVID-19, barricades were placed outside the wholesale vegetable market. Entry was permitted only to those with curfew passes.

Nihangs who are members of a Sikh Sect arrived at the spot in an SUV and were asked to show passes however they rammed into the barricades. Next, they attacked the police personnel including chopping ASI Singh’s wrist. Apparently, Harjeet Singh’s hand was picked up by another man and was given back to him. Two other policemen were also injured in the gruesome incident.

Later the assailants fled from the scene and took refuge in Gurdwara Khichri Sahib managed by them in Balbera village. The place is around 25 km from Patiala city.

Several hours later after the operation, the police arrested seven members from the group. “Three pistols, petrol bombs, swords, sacks of poppy husk and LPG cylinders were recovered from gurdwara”, DGP Dinkar Gupta said.
