Putin Calls the US Led Syrian Attack an Act of Aggression and It Will Have Consequences

The strikes in Syria have not gone down well with the Russians. The strikes are an insult to the Russian President, Mr. Putin.  Russia’s ambassador to the US has issued a warning saying the consequences may be serious. After the Syrian strike, the Russian American conflict may increase. “A pre-designed scenario is being implemented,” Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said on Twitter. He also said the US has no right to blame others when it itself has a huge arsenal. The attack is considered as an attack on Russia and they are not going to keep quiet about it.

Russia has extended their support to Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad, who was under attack by the rebels and ISIS terrorists. He was almost on the verge of going out but with Putin’s help, he was able to make a comeback. With Russia’s troops and air support, Mr. Assad has been able to gain control of the places that were under the control of the rebels.

America and its allies led a military strike in Syria after the chemical attack in Syria killing many citizens.  Russia and Damascus have denied any chemical attacks. The distance between Russia and the West has increased after the attack on Syria. It has also led to a war of words between Moscow and Washington. Alexander Sherin, deputy head of the State Duma's defense committee has said Trump is akin to Hitler and has chosen the same time to strike Syria.

Vladimir Putin has condemned the US-led strikes on Syria and has called it an act aggression on the part of America. He has also denied any chemical weapon attacks in Douma. He issued a statement in Kremlin stating the attacks would have adverse effects on International relations. Moscow will call an emergency meeting of the United Nations’ security council to discuss the strikes launched by the US, Britain, and France. Putin has also criticized the US and its allies for launching the strike without waiting for the international inspectors to inspect and confirm the chemical weapon attacks.

The Russians have claimed the chemical weapon attack in Douma was staged by the British to initiate western intervention in Syria. “We have evidence that proves Britain was directly involved in organizing this provocation,” the defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

Russia has claimed Syria had repelled 71 out of 103 missiles heading towards military installations using Soviet technology. The technology was developed 30 years ago and the Soviets have been helping the Syrians rebuild their air defense in the last 18 months. The Russians are also contemplating on selling their air defense S-300 to Syria and other countries to protect themselves against US missiles.

The US and its allies launched attacks on Syria on Friday to punish the Syrian President, Mr. Assad for killing his own people with chemical weapons which are banned. The strikes lasted an hour after which nationalists song were played loudly on the streets.

A scientific research center in Barzeh, near Damascus, and an army depot near Homs were targeted during the strikes. The strikes were meant for those sites that were used for creating chemical weapons.

The Russians have reacted with anger and have condemned the attack, however, what course of action they will take is left to be seen.
