In a recent discussion with India Today, Raghu Ram recounted an interesting on-set experience where he was subtly reprimanded for addressing Ajith by name despite their similar age.
"I grew up in Delhi and worked in Mumbai as well. We call our superiors by name. When I went to the shoot, Ajith came and introduced himself to me. Since he was around the same age as I was, I started calling him by his name. And it was awkward," Raghu Ram recalled.
His casual approach towards addressing the superstar astonished the director and crew members.
“The entire crew was taken aback, and there was an awkward silence. Later, the team informed me that it was considered disrespectful. When we traveled to Spain for filming, the director and the assistant director expressed their concerns about my behavior. At that point, I decided to address him as ‘Sir’—not because of any personal misstep but simply to make others feel more at ease. I believe Ajith himself doesn’t expect this level of deference; rather, it’s the people around him who uphold this reverence,” Raghu Ram explained.
Despite this cultural contrast, Raghu Ram spoke highly of Ajith Kumar’s relentless passion and dedication to his craft.
"He's next level. He doesn't need to earn more or seek approval from anyone. But he's still working and challenging himself. He's shown me that you decide your own life. He doesn't let the world define him. He's the center of his world. He's inspiring. You have to be crazy to change the world," Raghu Ram remarked.
