Rapper XXX Tentacion Shot Dead in Florida

Twenty-year-old rising rapper Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, also known as XXX Tentacion was shot on Monday in Florida. He had visited Deerfield Beach motorcycle dealership to purchase motorcycles.

XXX Tentacion was in his own vehicle when two suspects who were armed approached him. One of them fired and then both the suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV. Investigators haven’t made any arrests so far however it has been ascertained that the murder took place during an apparent robbery. The twenty-year-old rapper was pronounced dead on Monday evening at a Fort Lauderdale-area hospital.

The young artist claimed the number one position on the US Billboard chart album last month and his song ‘Sad’ debuted at number 17 becoming his highest charting song in the United States. The song had more than 270 million streams on Spotify. He was also featured in XXL magazine's 2017 Freshman Class alongside other upcoming stars. Many of his songs were declared to be Platinum such as ‘Changes’, ‘Roll in Peace’ and ‘Look at M’. He was a big fan of Kurt Cobain

A youngster surrounded by controversies

Though XXX Tentacion was a rising star, his life was infused with never-ending controversies. His mother was financially weak therefore he was forced to spend most of his childhood with his grandmother. The youngster was a victim of depression and he was quite vocal about it. Many of his songs revolved around anxiety, depression and mental illness. They had a very depressive streak.

His September 2017 music video ‘Look at me’, that went viral on social media received backlash for staging a scene where he’s seen lynching a white boy. The video was created supposedly to highlight race issues. This video immediately created waves of controversy and sparked backlash. That said, he ended the video on a positive note "Are you willing to risk your child's future due to your own bigotry? The choice is yours, but your child will not stand for the hate. This generation will be loved, nurtured, heard and understood.”

In one of the most chilling crimes described, XXX Tentacion was jailed for attacking his pregnant girlfriend. His then-girlfriend named Geneva Ayala was physically battered by him while she was pregnant and the act was described to be one of the most horrendous crimes in court documents. In addition to these charges XXX Tentacion was charged with witness tampering, was accused of pressuring his girlfriend to drop the charges so on and so forth. He was under house arrest for these charges and he awaited trial. The house arrest was lifted in March according to Miami-Dade court documents. Besides these, there were unending encounters with the law for various violent crimes.

The young rapper immediately found ways to change his notorious image as soon he would fall into trouble but he’d soon get back to his notorious ways. It was evident that the young rapper had a traumatized childhood given the number of people he attacked in school. He himself revealed that he was quiet and depressed during his time in school. One would never know what caused the youngster to be so violent.  It’s believed that the young artist had made a drastic change in his life and began to live a life filled with positivity. Alas, it wasn’t to be.
