Sarangi Player Pandit Ram Narayan Dies at 96

On November 9th, 2024, popular sarangi player Ram Narayan Pandit died. He was one of the legends of classical music. He was also awarded the Padma Vibushan and Sangeet Akademi awards. Born in 1927, Ram Narayan Pandit was one of the pioneers of Indian classical music.

A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, he passed away today. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved ones and prayers to the Almighty to give them enough strength to bear this irreparable loss

Ram Narayan Pandit was also regarded as the father of the Sarangi, a stringed instrument. With this skill, he gained global popularity while constantly inspiring the future generation of Sarangi players. Moreover, he made the instrument quite popular which also enhanced the global recognition of the instrument.
