Saregama Carvaan Sets out on UAE Journey

Saregama, formerly The Gramophone Company of India Ltd, which owns the largest music archives in India and one of the biggest in the world, is now launching Saregama Carvaan, the portable digital audio player with in-built stereo speakers and 5000 evergreen Hindi songs inside, in United Arab Emirates (UAE). This audio player offers a combination of the best of digital technology with the convenience and ease of use of a physical form factor. Carvaan in the UAE is now available in Thomsun chain of outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and will very soon be available at other outlets as well.

Interestingly, the 5000 songs, which have been made available on the Carvaan have been handpicked using data analytics and categorized based on singers, lyricists, music composers, moods etc. Mind you that each category can be selected by just turning a jog-dial. So all it requires is a simple turn of a knob to switch from Kishore Kumar classics, to R.D Burman’s pulsating hits, or to timeless love songs or even to soulful Sufi tracks – and that too, all in their original versions, back-to-back without any ads. The music collection on Carvaan also includes the entire Ameen Sayani’s Geetmala collection spanning 50-odd years.

It also offers the option to tune into FM Radio, thereby doubling up as a home radio. It is also possible to enjoy one's personal collection of songs by just plugging in a USB drive or streaming songs from a phone to Carvaan via Bluetooth. Significantly, it works on a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 5 hours or so. The product comes with a one-year warranty applicable all over the UAE. All of these features make Saregama Carvaan a new and unique gifting option for your loved ones for all occasions.

Vikram Mehra, Managing Director of Saregama India said that there has been a lot of demand for Carvaan from the Indian sub-continent diaspora living in Dubai. He thinks that it’s a perfect treat for anyone living away from home and missing good old Hindi music. There’s an inherent nostalgic charm in the songs of yesteryears, especially if it gives a perfect lean-back uncomplicated ala 70s Vividh Bharti experience. The company is thrilled that after a successful launch in the US and Canada, Carvaan is launching in UAE, and this connection with the diaspora is complete. It’s the perfect gift for your family and friends, he said.
