Satyajit Ray Tribute Film 'Aparajito' Beats 'KGF: Chapter 2’ in Rating

Anik Dutta’s 'Aparajito', a tribute film to Satyajit Ray's journey during the making of the classic 'Pather Panchali' has received a staggering 9.2 rating from IMDB beats “KGF: Chapter 2’.

The Bengali film manages to take on the mighty South releases. At least, that’s what the rating on IMDb on Monday evening reflects.

Within a few days of its release, Aparajito received an astonishing response from the audience earning a 9.4 rating on IMDb. Now the more surprising thing is Aparajito has a higher rating than the mega blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2.

Jeetu Kamal who has been featured as Satyajit Ray, has earned higher points than Rocky Bhai on IMDb. Where KGF: Chapter 2 has collected 8.8 on IMDb, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise Part 1 has earned 6 ratings. SS Rajamouli’s hit blockbuster RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR has received 8.4 on IMDb.

Actor Jeetu Kamal plays a fictional filmmaker named Aparajito Ray and rotates around the efforts of bringing for his dream project ‘Pather Podaboli’ which is referred as ‘Pather Panchali’. When Jeetu takes on the role of Aparajito, a character that has a lot of similarities with Satyajit Ray, Saayoni Ghosh, the renowned actress, plays Bimola Roy, a character inspired from Ray’s wife Bijoya Ray.

The multiple characters which have been inspired by actual people and the performances are decent. The actress who played the character inspired by Pather Panchali’s Indir Thakrun stands out from the rest.

A ton of research into making this movie, Director Anik Dutta clearly didn't have any desire to forget about anything. Everything, from Ray's acquaintances' apprehension about his choice to make a humanist movie without the components of dance, tune and sentiment to Hollywood chief Martin Scorsese's idea for the work of art, has been portrayed in this two-hour-15-minute film.

Meanwhile, 'Aparajito' will be shown at the reputable Toronto International Film Festival and London International Film Festival soon.
