Actor Disha Patani’s father, retired DSP Jagadish Patani, has officially received a weapons license from the Bareilly district administration. The decision comes in the wakes of the alarming attack on their ancestral home in Uttar Pradesh on September 11 and 12, an incident attributed to the notorious Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gang. A senior authority confirmed the development to PTI, marking a significant step forward strengthening the family’s safety.
In the aftermath of the assault, Jagadish Patani approached the Bareilly District Magistrate seeking enhanced protection. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also assured him of “providing adequate security,” acknowledging the gravity of the situation. District Magistrate Avnish Singh later stated that Jagadish had formally requested a weapons license for self-defense. After fulfilling all procedural requirements, the administration approved his license for a revolver or pistol.

The attack involved unidentified arriving on a motorcycle and firing close to 10 rounds outside the Patani residence on two consecutive nights, Investigations revealed the perpetrators to be members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar gang, known for their covert operations and intimidating tactics. A case was promptly filed at the Kotwali police station. In a swift retaliatory action, a combined team of the Uttar Pradesh STF, Haryana STF, and Delhi unit located the suspects. Both were killed in an encounter in Ghaziabad on September 17. The incident left behind a profound sense of trepidation, immediacy, and vulnerability, further highlighting the need for circumspect, meticulous, and fortified security measures for the family.
