Shahid Kapoor is back with his angry young man image in ‘Kabir Singh’, a remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’, by the same director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. While ‘Arjun Reddy’ has been a Telugu blockbuster grossing ₹510 million globally, it is a matter of time to see how well its Hindi counterpart turns out.
‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Arjun Reddy’, both of them revolve around the character of a brilliant medical surgeon who is an alcoholic and drug addict and suffers through anger management issues. The plot digs at a romantic anecdote, how far a man could advance to achieve the love of his life, walking the path of self-destruction.

Film buffs don’t need to be told that this isn’t the first time that Shahid Kapoor has taken up a challenging onscreen role. From ‘Kaminey’ to ‘Haider’, from ‘Rangoon’ to ‘Udta Punjab’, the ‘Jab We Met’ star didn’t shy away from breaking his chocolate boy image. With an adorable face and innocent eyes, Shahid has been successful in portraying an angry young man avatar, from time to time.
Probably, this is the very first time that the ‘Padmaavat’ actor will be appearing in a Telugu remake. The 2017 released action drama ‘Arjun Reddy’, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey, is said to be partially inspired by director’s Vanga’s own life as a student of physiotherapy. The film was later adapted in Tamil as well by the name, ‘Adithya Verma’.
Kiara Advani, the gorgeous lady from ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, is playing Shahid Kapoor’s love interest in the film.
‘Kabir Singh’ is slated to release on June 21, 2019, trailer to release, soon!
