The video is an episode from reality show ‘Dance Plus 5’ in which he was a guest. In the video he says, my wife is a Hindu, I am a Muslim and my children are ‘Hindustan.’ He has taught his children to identify with the religion ‘Hindustan’ and nothing more.
Speaking about his ‘religion connection’ with his wife and his children he said, “...hum mein koi Hindu-Musalman ki baat hi nahi ki. Meri biwi jo hai Hindu hai, main Musalman hoon. Aur mere jo bacche hain, woh Hindustan hain. Genuine baat hai yeh (There is no such thing as Hindu-Muslim between us. My wife is Hindu and I am Muslim, my kids are Indian. It's a genuine thing).”
The audience cheered Shahrukh after hearing his words as it did seem to strike a chord somewhere. Isn’t there so much chaos already in the world, all in the name of religion?
He described a day when his daughter had to fill up a form in school and there was a section where she had to enter her religion. She asked her father, “Papa, hum kaun se religion ke hain? (Papa, what is our religion?)” Shahrukh just wrote “Indian” in that specific section.

Every human being has an individual right to follow a religion or a spiritual path of their choice albeit creating violence, division, and ruckus in the name of religion is not right and goes against the whole principle of its existence. It creates an unsettling atmosphere leaving every citizen in a state of panic.
In an interview with NDTV in 2015, he said, “If we keep on talking about religion, we’re going to go back to the dark ages. There is nothing less important than religious intolerance.” He added, “Religion cannot be defined by our meat-eating habits.”
This statement, however, landed the star in trouble and he was severely targeted by two BJP politicians for the above-mentioned statement.
He then took back his words and said that he was sorry for being patriotic. He jokingly added, “To tell you the truth, I’ve become scared. Everything is great in our country. God bless India... There is no problem.”
This is the very reason many celebs remain silent on important issues concerning the nation. It’s because they are severely targeted for voicing their personal opinions.
