Shocking Footage: Delta Air Lines Plane Crashes Upside Down in Canada

Toronto: A Delta Airlines aircraft, carrying 80 individuals, including four crew members, crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport and overturned, resulting in injuries to at least 18 passengers on Monday. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, according to officials. The mishap occurred as the Endeavor Air flight, which had departed from Minneapolis, attempted to land in Toronto amid challenging weather conditions caused by a severe snowstorm that had recently swept through the region.

A viral video on social media captures the aircraft making a rough landing on the snow-covered runway. Moments later, thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the overturned plane. Several dramatic images depict passengers scrambling to escape from the upturned CRJ-900 aircraft while shielding their faces from fierce winds and swirling snow.

Emergency response teams acted swiftly, drenching the aircraft with water to prevent further combustion as passengers continued to disembark. Firefighters and rescue personnel worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was evacuated safely.

Authorities confirmed that all injured passengers, including a young child, were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities via ambulance for necessary treatment.

Swift Emergency Response

Toronto Airport Authority chief executive Deborah Flint praised the rapid reaction of the emergency crew, stating, "The incident did not involve any other planes. Emergency crews were heroic in their response by reaching the site within minutes and quickly evacuating the passengers. Some of the passengers have already been reunited with their friends and their families."

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Following the incident, the airport temporarily suspended all flight operations for approximately two hours. Although services have since resumed, authorities have warned of potential delays as operations gradually return to normal.

Delta Air Lines Issues Statement

Delta Air Lines acknowledged the incident, stating that the CRJ-900 aircraft was involved in a single-plane accident at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The airline emphasized that its primary concern is the well-being of those affected by the event.

"Delta has activated its Passenger Inquiry Center for family and loved ones of customers involved in today's accident so they can connect with Delta for more information. As a precautionary measure, Delta canceled all scheduled flights to and from Toronto Pearson for the remainder of the day. "Delta is working to connect with customers whose flights have been impacted. Customers should also monitor the status of their flight via the Fly Delta app," the airline added.

Delta CEO ED Bastian expressed deep concern over the accident, stating "The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today's incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport."
