The ongoing pandemic has brought out the best in many people including famous Indian celebs, even from those whom we least expected. Without a doubt, I’m speaking about Sonu Sood.

The actor has bagged the title ‘Migrant Messiah’ for the immense work he’s done for the migrants. The Indian masses are thoroughly impressed with his massive contribution in the relief efforts although he may not be one of the most popular celebs you’ll catch on advertisements or promotions on television.

He hired a plane and made sure that thousands of migrants reunited with their families while travelling comfortably from Kerala to Orissa.

He also hired buses to send workers in Mumbai to their respective homes including Karnataka. Another report says that he helped 1000 migrants return to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. While speaking to metro life, Sonu said that he transported nearly 20,000 people back home via train, buses, and planes which is truly heroic.

The actor used his own financial resources though later a close friend Neeti Goel joined in and named this initiative ‘Ghar Bhejo.’ His efforts sparked off a chain reaction and people began calling in to sponsor buses and to provide financial resources. Before the migrants left by train, the actor distributed food packets and rations to them.

Instagram

Sood upped the ante after his philanthropic acts grabbed the attention of the public. Beverage Company PepsiCo has signed him up for its upcoming Instagram campaign.

The campaign urges people to follow strict social distancing and contactless greetings. Besides, he has gained more than three million followers on Instagram which will boost his brand image.

Sonu Sood primarily acts in South Indian films such Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Recently he featured in Kannada films such as ‘Vishnuvardhana’ and ‘Kurukshetra. He admitted that Kannada is pretty close to his heart as both these films performed pretty well. Besides south Indian films, he’s performed in Hindi films like Dabangg and Jodha Akbar in supporting roles.

He quoted his mother saying, “If you are not able to help someone, then you are not a successful person.” The actor who generally plays villain in movies turned out to be an inspiring hero in real life.
