Spain Hit by Floods, Streets Turn into The River after Deadly Flash Flood Hits
Cities in Spain are underwater, Schools are shut, and trains are canceled. Close to 3000 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas.
Storms in Spain led to challenges in daily tasks as the majority of the shops, schools, and colleges have been directed to shut down their operations. Many trains and flights have been canceled in Madrid as the impact of the floods has caused severe consequences. The death estimate is close to 220 which includes tolls from Valencia and other parts of the country.
Coastal areas of Valencia were under high alert as weather agencies have claimed more than 7 inches of rainfall that too within 5 hours. This is a threat to the city as this can hamper the emergency stores and facilities. On 29th October, the city witnessed its highest rainfall, however, winds were still gusting along with mud and debris accumulation on the streets.
Low-lying areas near Gudalhorce have been cleared where close to 3000 people have been evacuated. Many schools across the city have been shut down due to immense rainfall. High-speed trains have also been shut and services between Malaga and Madrid have also been shut.
Tarragona Province of Spain faced severe rainfall as the weather agencies informed of more than 70 mm of rain which could cause catastrophic experiences even more because of ongoing winds and previous debris accumulation.
The storm system has formed as hot air from the surface matched with the cold air of the shore leading to rain clouds. Experts have claimed that climate change is developing pressure over the coastal areas resulting in immense rainfall.
