Submarine Sinks Near Red Sea in Egypt
A submarine sings off the Red Sea coast. 33 passengers were rescued, and many died. Second incident after the Ocean Gate submersible Implosion
More than 5 Russian Tourists were prey of the deadly submarine plunge in Hurghada, off the Egyptian coast near the Red Sea, informed the news agency Reuters on Thursday. The incident happned when the submarine started venturing into the Red Sea. There were a total of 45 passengers onboard the submarine, all from Russia. Agencies have not yet published any information on the number of crew on board.
The Submarine, SINBAD, was on its usual tour of coral reef viewing. The submarine sank shortly after it left the docks at 10 AM on Thursday. It had only travelled half a mile before sinking into the ocean. Close to 29 tourists have been rescued so far, and the condition of the others is not clear. The reason for the submarine sinking was not cleared by the authorities. The Russian Consulate claimed that 4 people who died might be Russian, and their details are yet to arrive.
According to the Company’s Website, the submarine was operated by Sinbad Submarines, and the vessel had a seating capacity of 44 passengers and two crew seats. The submarine also has a curved window on the side, which allows the passengers to explore the coral reefs. A similar incident happned previously in the Red Sea, which killed almost 4 people, and around 33 passengers were saved. However, it was a Yacht, and the lives could be saved because it was still ashore.
Recently, many businesses have stopped their exploration journey because of the uncertainties and the conflict in the Red Sea. In the past, there have been many incidents that have bothered the explorers and led to an entire halt in the exploration services. The sinking of Sinbad was not the only deadly incident. In 2003, a company named Oceangate had selected a few individuals to explore the mysteries of the ocean, and because of high pressure, the submersible had imploded.
The incident has raised concern as all the 5 people aboard the Oceangates Titan died because of the implosion that occurred. However, many agencies working closely with the investigation claimed to have heard an eerie sound when it imploded. It is also believed that the submersible lost all form of contact after a depth of 3360 meters below sea level. Ocean Gate employees are currently testifying about the usability and are being summoned in court for stating the reason behind the deadly implosion of the Submersible.
