Sunita William Returns to Earth after 9 Months

After spending nearly 9 months in the International Space Station Sunita Williams and Butch Willmore returned to Earth, ending their extended stay at the International Space Station. The operation was executed by the SpaceX Dragon capsule which had Butch and Sunita. Nick Hague and a Russian Cosmonaut were also present in the extraction operations.

The capsule landed off the Florida coast at around 3:30 am, almost 17 hours after it departed from the International Space Station. Initially Butch and Sunita had planned for an 8-day trip to the International space station. However, because of a technical glitch in the spaceship, their return was suspicious.

Nasa has confirmed a successful recovery of the capsule shortly after it soft-laned on the water. It also praised the dedication and adaptability of the astronauts. Astronaut Hague right after the soft landing announced "Splashdown! Good mains release," on his radio.

A Space X crew boat was also parked nearby that would be helping the astronauts to get out of the capsule. The capsule door was hatched when Sunita and Butch were exposed to Sunlight and fresh air. Later they were taken for medical examination which is a protocol for astronauts coming from space.

Sunita Williams and Butch Willmore were onboard Boeing Starliner which is a new vehicle being tested for astronaut transportation to the ISS. However, the aircraft showed propulsion glitches and docking issues which left the duo stranded on the International Space Station for nearly 9 months. NASA and Boeing worked to solve the issue tirelessly however no solution was found. The prolonged stay gave birth to advanced research on vegetation and microgravity.

Their return was delayed because of many different safety reasons. The return commences on 18th March after assessing the condition and needs of the spacecraft. Space X Dragon crew helped extract the two stuck astronauts and after 17 hours it re-entered the orbit of Earth to bring both astronauts back safely. During their prolonged stay at the ISS, their advanced research on Plant Water management, Robotics, and Space Medicines was highly witnessed and they provided significant feedback on these topics.

They were also responsible for communicating with their fellow astronauts, maintaining the station, and solving any form of technical issues being faced by the space station. They have ensured support for the International Space Station. Their sacrifice allowed NASA to envision the future challenges and problems of the long-term stay in Space.

Currently both the pilots are under medical evaluation and soon they will be allowed to unite with the families.
