In the forefront of the rise in temperature there’s a lot of issues which might come into focus. Global warming being an important issue is a reason and people are asked to be more aware of their health at this moment.

Take Care! Temperature Rise Can Affect Your Health

The US is getting blisters ever since the beginning of the month. Weather reports say that the temperature is being in the 30 scale on average which is a matter of serious concern resulting in a major climate change. The National Emergency Fire Center says that in some parts of America the temperature has risen to 40 degree Celsius (104 degrees F) due to the fireworks on the eve of Independence Day.

As per the weather statistics, since July the temperature has risen to break around 227 US records of high temperature. Till date, the temperature in Burlington has lowered to 27 degree Celsius (80.6 degrees F) on 2nd July which is the lowest among the temperature rise data.

The expert verdict

The manager of Community Resilience and Equity program, Robin Pfohman said that people must take this weather change very seriously. The global warming being one of the main reasons will show a lot of changes in the climatic conditions. She further says that people are aware of global warming but not to the fullest extent. As per her reports, the people are aware that the ice is melting in the Polar Regions to affect the natural habitat. But, the people should also understand that the changes are also a threat to human beings.

There’s a team headed by Robin Pfohman who are working on the health awareness level. They are helping the local residents to become aware of the climatic issues that are most likely to hit the nation in the coming years. As per the team, the upcoming climatic events might be droughts, heat waves and, wildfires. After the temperature rise, she has been talking extensively about heat strokes and other illness that must be taken care of to prevent adverse health issues of the public.

How to stay cool this summer

Heat events are on high this summer and the US people must take the required preventive measures to avoid facing the ill effects of the weather. Though it is difficult to abide by, the experts are asking to stay indoors in this extreme summer heat. Even if you need to go out make sure you spend lesser time outside and shift to a cooler place. Water is your best friend now. Make sure you have sufficient water to avoid the excess heat to affect your body. Keeping the body cool is very much a necessity. Kids are at risk as well and parents are asked to ensure the water intake. When they step outside, wearing a hat to cover the heads is a must. People who are suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease or going under psychotropic medications must take care of their health. In this excessive heat, these patients will face many difficulties as the body heat will not cool down easily.

Measures taken up by the Community Resilience and Equity Team

The initiative to beat the climate change is being taken since the last summer. The department took a great initiative to spread awareness of the adverse heat effects on health. A series of comics was introduced where several topics on this issue were discussed. The comic talked about the illness, the causes behind it and way to prevent the illness.

You might have a question that why such a serious issue will be discussed over a series of comics. The answer is here with the team. As per their experience, they wanted the message to reach the mass at any cost and comic is a great medium to communicate. The team says that people do not like a serious topic to be discussed in a serious manner. They might take it seriously during the issue but later the focus shifts. But this form of storytelling through a comic will help to grab the attention of the public. Once they get to know the message through a story the message will stay for a long time in their minds and they would be able to relate easily and act accordingly at the need of the hour. The visual representation of the comics will also be able to overcome the boundaries of language. Though as per sources, the team is working on releasing the comic in different other languages.

The department is working continuously to track the changes in the climate. As per the changes, the health factors are also put into consideration as per the climatic changes. The department is trying to incorporate new members from the academic background who will carry on the research work related to the climate change. The department is also working on accumulating funds for the local health bodies. Sufficient data recovery will help the department to speculate on the changes over time and assure the mitigation to some extent. Cross-departmental discussions are taking place to discuss the problem of stormwater. The stormwater might be the next issue that could take a toll over the health conditions. The entire idea is to cater to the situation of health degradation prevailing all over the US.

The issue of global warming

The weather issue which is a major concern now has not appeared out the blue. The entire world has been suffering due to which there are major climatic changes all over the world. Jeff Masters, the director of meteorology who forecasted the Weather Underground service gave his insight over the heat waves. He confirmed that such heat waves are a clear indication of the Earth becoming a warmer planet which is the cause of global warming. He mentions that if you see the average global records, the heat level has already surpassed last 2 years of record. In this current situation, he is expecting a relief from the heat and humidity in the Northeast and Midwest by Sunday though North Carolina and Los Angeles will get a high weather forecast. Reports say, that there’s no good news in terms of weather until the last two weeks of July when there will be a slightly lowered temperature compared to the average of the first two weeks.

So, get ready with bottles of water and save yourself from the heat waves that are all set to affect your health.
