Tennis champ Roger Federer wriggled his way out of a humorous situation when a presenter posed an interesting question to him at the Wimbledon 2021.
The Swiss Tennis Champion qualified for the next round in Wimbledon 2021 after putting up a tough fight against Adrian Mannarino. Adrian had to withdraw from the game due to an injury however Roger admitted that he was a better player at court.
The presenter asked him whether the phrase “absence makes the heart fonder” holds true in context with Wimbledon being resumed after it was cancelled last year due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Roger didn’t get the question and said, “I'm sorry, I didn't understand it” and then began laughing along with the audience.
“I heard something absence and then, I don't know, my mind went blank,” the tennis legend honestly expressed.
The presenter repeated the question. Roger again explained that he doesn’t understand that saying.
“My English is not good enough,” he joked and continued laughing.
When the presenter rephrased the question in other words Roger said, “Yes, there you go.”

“A good reminder that my English is not very good” he joked.
The tennis champion once again proved that he’s not only good at acing the game of tennis but he’s also good at charming the audiences with his simplicity, wit and humour. By simply being honest and direct he found his way of out of a tricky situation and right into the hearts of his fans.
Roger Federer also expressed that “it would have been the worst to have the tournament without fans and he’s glad that fans were welcomed at All England Club. He will go on to play with French tennis star Richard Gasquet.
