The Family Man 2 Trailer Becomes the Most Viewed Trailer on the OTT Platform

Actor Manoj Bajpayee launched the trailer of ‘The Family Man’ Season 2 on May 19 and we must say that it is pretty impressive. 

The trailer is entertaining right from the start! Manoj Bajpayee seems to have switched jobs and doesn’t look too excited with the new corporate set-up. You can witness his boss coercing him to participate in office activities. 

He’s seen once again struggling to find his place within the family as a husband and a father. You’ll catch glimpses of his wife and his children frequently getting frustrated whilst dealing with him.

Later in the trailer, he’s found in the “hot and happening” land of Chennai. The trailer soon introduces the audience to actress Samantha Akkineni who is a militant in the series. Samantha’s role is said to be “bold and edgy” and she’s on a dangerous mission to kill. 

The trailer is infused with comedy, drama, violence, and action-packed scenes that arouse curiosity. 

Now, however, the trailer has become a subject of controversy. Some viewers have accused the web series of portraying the state of Tamil Nadu in a negative light. By portraying Samantha as a terrorist, a section of viewers feel that Tamilians are being portrayed as terrorists. 

The scenes are being linked to the 1983 conflict between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the government forces in Sri Lanka where the Tamil Tigers were demanding a separate state Eelam in Sri Lanka. 

The Family Man directed by Raj and D.K. follows the amusing, personal, and professional experiences of Srikant Tiwari played by Manoj Bajpayee. He works for a surveillance cell which is part of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) where he’s underpaid. 

Tiwari is a married man with two kids. Throughout the series, you’ll come across numerous situations where he fails to adjust to the realms of family life. 

The trailer has received a whopping 15 million views in 24 hours which makes it the highest viewed trailer on the OTT platform beating the trailer Mirzapur 2. Samantha had personally shared this achievement on her Insta stories. 

The new series will also see Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, and Sharib Hashmi reprising their roles from the first season. The second season will begin where the first installment had ended. ‘The Family Man 2’ is all set to release on Amazon Prime on June 4.
