The Must Haves of Bollywood Heroines That Need a Change

Let’s find out a few things that we see in Bollywood heroine’s mannerism and which definitely needs a real makeover.

The Must Haves of Bollywood Heroines That Need a Change

Movie making has changed a lot these days. Thanks to Bollywood. Plots are based on content rather than star value. In this way, there is a progressing in the direction of a constructive change in the nation's biggest movie industry.

Initially, leading men take in a quantum offer of remuneration and leading ladies are estimated significantly more moderately. In recent years, as multiplexes in urban focuses exponentially on the content of the movies in the weekend slots in theatres, the hero and his large package of a star gradually has lightened. The formula of great stories is not restricted to critically acclaimed films but also commercial movies.

But one significant point is to be made on the role of heroines in the movie. There were certain trends followed when it came to heroines. They were expected to be in a certain way. Just like there is a CHANGE in decluttering stardom we are hoping some change in terms of portrayal of the heroines as well. The change is coming gradually, but it will definitely take some more time.

Let’s find out some “heroine features” Bollywood that we feel have seen a lot and needs some REAL touch.

The idea to look in a certain way

Change of dresses

Only if it’s a movie like NH10 or Highway, we find a continuity of dresses. Even if the plot demands continuity, Bollywood has this perfect way of introducing at least 5 designer costumes in a single song. The dream sequence is the excuse of all situations.

The real woman is trying hard to stock the wardrobe keeping such things as inspiration but guess it’s hard with her limited salary.

Flying mane

Well, how you can show love is in the air. The blush on the cheek, the coyness in her eyes and hair fluttering due to some unknown source of wind- that’s how a Bollywood heroine falls in love. The smile and the hair combo seems no wrong. You will hardly see a heroine falling in love flaunting a messy bun. Even if she sports it all throughout, it will somehow fall off to show off her long streaks of air. Even Shah Rukh Khan, the ultimate romantic hero pleads his teacher to show off her hair magic when he is in love. (Main Hoon Na)

No working women can deny that in a hot scorching day the only desire is in tying the hair up in that messy bun. Thanks to the recent trend, the messy bun is in the trending list till now.

A bikini body

There are exceptions like Dum Laga Ke Haisha where the heroine is not a stereotype lady. Kudos to actors like Vidya Balan who still believes the body does not define her talent. The coyest and draped lady usually in Bollywood movies have this figure that makes all ordinary women run on the treadmill and get on crash diets no matter what.

To return to reality, yes people are becoming conscious about their health. But this images of perfect bikini bod is making them worry more than actually working out for being healthy. Bikini bod goals are just for those Goa plans.

The All day Makeup

She is in bath towel or night suit- her mascara is on point. That’s Bollywood heroines for you, my dear. They always know how to slay every moment with the dashing diva look.

Professionalism has a look too

Women in uniforms are a delight to watch. Isn’t it? It’s good to see with that extra fit uniforms on her in which she perfectly portrays her newly toned figure. She must have that straight face. A corporate look must be in suit pants and the hair gelled up with a high ponytail.

Unfortunately, real life working women are facing a hard time to meet these image goals. From juggling with family, to meet deadlines, they end up in something close to decent, and the first-morning washroom visit makes her do the unruly hair she tied up while struggling in the local trains.

The behavior of heroines

Tears

Well! This has not yet changed with time. Tears. Emotional outburst. Heroines are still incomplete without shedding tears. In a movie like Andhadhun where Tabu had the strongest role, didn’t miss the woman card of shedding tears even if it was for a few seconds.

Unlike movies, women in real life choose the loo or the pillow rather than their partner’s shoulder to shed those tears of struggle.

Dance

Well, you hardly see a heroine with horrible dancing skills. Edits and retakes make them great dancers wooing the audience, entertaining them at the core. They can dance on roads, around poles, temples, in the rain and don’t forget the iconic scene of Sholay where Basanti is dancing on broken glass fragments. Kudos to the spirit and creativity must say!

Shout to seek for help

Bachao! ( Help!) Another iconic thing of Bollywood heroines. Auditions are conducted on this dialogue. The heroine must seek help from her hero and plead and scream for her help with her nerves wrecking out from her throat and blood red eyes weeping with trauma.

Believer of God

Praying with a thali, going to a church or sitting for a Namaz- this is how the heroines show their concern for their male counterparts. While the male characters are out there fighting with villain or death, heroines make sure they support with uncontrollable prayers and tears.

It’s not women these days are all atheists. But making that puja ki thali and Diya on hand- there’s hardly time for that. The faith is all there in the heart.

But for relief and for the sake of reality, the ideas are changing. Movies like Kahaani, Pink, Piku and many more which has shown real women and their real nature. It’s not always about strength like a Wonder Woman. It’s not the portrayal of women who know-it-all or do it all. We hope rather than mystifying the gender let’s put the real woman who has their own share of guilt, flaws, and awesomeness.
