The Power of Eating Less: Hrithik Roshan’s Smart Approach to Fitness
Hrithik Roshan credits his fit physique at 51 to mindful eating and portion control, proving that smart, balanced meals are key to long-term health and fitness.
Hrithik Roshan continues to inspire millions with his commitment to health and fitness. At 51, the actor’s chiselled physique and youthful energy prove that age is just a number, when backed by discipline and smart choices. While fans often admire his intense workouts, Hrithik recently revealed that his real secret lies on his plate.
He recently shared a snap of his plate on Insta, which showed an array of nutritious foods. His plate was loaded with Brussels sprouts, carrots, red bell peppers, ladyfingers, tandoori chicken tikka, charred broccoli, Zucchinis, green beans, moong, and salad.
In another image, he had shredded beetroot along with a banana. The caption of the post read, “New motto. Eat lesser, love better. But make the plate look huge.”
The message resonated strongly with his followers, sparking conversations around mindful eating and sustainable fitness.
Backing this message, Edwina Raj, Head of Services – Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, said, “Yes, portion control can help you lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way. Eating smaller portions reduces the total calories you consume without forcing you to avoid your favourite foods. When portions are controlled, the body uses stored fat for energy, which supports weight loss.”
“Portion control also helps prevent overeating and mindless snacking, especially during meals eaten quickly. It improves digestion and helps you feel lighter and more comfortable after eating. Over time, your stomach adjusts to smaller portions, making you feel full with less food. This habit also helps balance blood sugar levels and reduces cravings. Using smaller plates, eating slowly, and listening to hunger signals can make portion control easier. When practised daily, portion control supports steady weight loss and better overall health,” she added.
She further explained, “Eating too little or skipping meals can be harmful, as this may cause weakness, low energy, and nutrient deficiencies. The key is to eat balanced meals in proper portions, not to starve the body. Listening to hunger and fullness signals is important for good health. Eating slowly, choosing nutritious foods, and stopping when you feel comfortably full can improve overall well-being. When done correctly, eating less supports long-term health and a better lifestyle.”
In essence, portion control is about balance—eating neither too much nor too little, but just enough to fuel the body. As Hrithik Roshan’s fitness journey shows, consistency, mindfulness, and smart choices can make all the difference, at any age.
