Todd Phillips Announces The Release of Joker: Folie à Deux with A Serene Picture

Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the 2019 film Joker, will be released next year on October 4, 2024. 

The news of the release of the upcoming sequel was announced by filmmaker Todd Philips on Wednesday on social media. 

Phillips shared a photograph that shows a still from the upcoming movie whose storyline remains a mystery. 

We can see Phoenix soaking up the rain with his head up and eyes closed. Four other men are surrounding him, holding colourful red, blue, yellow and orange umbrellas. 

Todd Phillips captioned the picture, “Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come.”

Audiences still haven’t forgotten the impact of the original 2019 film. It left its mark in the hearts of viewers and followers are craving for more. 

Masses applauded Joaquin Phoenix’s performance as the dejected joker! 

His winsome portrayal of a complex, eccentric, pained and troubled human being, gained favour in the eyes of critics and fans alike. 

The theme of the film revolved around mental health and its effects. It reflected on the impacts of a harsh society on the vulnerable. 

Todd earlier introduced us to the other characters of ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ such as Harley Quinn played by Lady Gaga through snapshots on his IG profile. 

Speaking of his leading actors in the film he said, “That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together.”

The original Joker created history with eleven Oscar nominations with Joaquin Phoenix bagging the Best Actor award which undoubtedly sets the bar high for Joker: Folie à Deux.
