Tokyo Olympics Day 11 Updates: South Korea Wins Gold in Men's Vault, Britain in Equestrian

Shin Jea-hwan of South Korea wins gold in the men's gymnastic defeating Denis Abliazin of the ROC won silver. Oliver Townend of Britain, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen won the gold medal in equestrian. Australia took the silver medal and France the bronze.

  • Gymnastics Men’s Vault: Shin Jea-hwan of South Korea wins Gold

South Korean gymnast Shin Jea-hwan entered the Tokyo Olympic record books on Monday, winning the men's gold medal to become the country's second Olympic gymnastics champion. Shin scored an average of 14,783 points after two experiences in the final at the Ariake Gymnastics Center in Tokyo, beating Russian Olympic Committee's Denis Abliazin with a gold medal. Shin had 14,733 points with his first last room and 14.833 next. Shin and Abliazin were tied for their points in 14,783, but Shin had 6000 high difficulty levels in his first room. Both of these Russian goods had 5,600 points in the difficulty level.

  • Equestrian Men: Britain wins Gold medalist team

Oliver Townend of Britain, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen have won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Australia took the silver medal, upgraded to third place in Rio 2016, and the French champions took the bronze. Oliver Townend, the world's leading scorer, could have made it to the finals and knew he could drop four wickets and Team GB would still win a gold medal. However, with half an eye in each race, the 38-year-old needed to keep his focus, finishing the next round clean, rolling just one wire on the Ballaghmor horse. Great Britain, which last won a gold medal team 49 years ago in Munich, finished with an impressive 86.3 mark.   • Women's Football: USA vs Canada

The USA lost 0-1 to Canada in the women's semi-finals. Jessie Fleming hit a penalty kick in the second half when Canada upset American Olympic women's soccer champions United States 1-0 in Kashima on Monday to reach the finals for the first time. Fleming's 74th-minute strike gave Canada their first victory over their neighbors since 2001 and sparked a clash with Sweden or Australia with a gold medal.

  • Women's Gymnastics: US's Carey Wins floor Gold Medal

American Jade Carey won a gold medal on the women's floor of the Tokyo Olympics on Monday. Vanessa Ferrari of Italy won silver and Mai Murakami of Japan and Angelina Melnikova of the Russian Olympic Committee both won bronze, with similar points. Carey, 21, of Arizona, became his US competitor in the event after Simone Biles withdrew from focusing on his mental health. Carey took the complex process of falling with great difficulty, hitting 14,366.

  • Men's Wrestling: The Cuban Orta wins by defeating Kenichiro Fumita of Japan

Cuba's Luis Orta won gold in the Greek men's Roman bantamweight category at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday. Kenichiro Fumita of Japan took home the silver medal and Walihan Sailike of China and Sergey Emelin of the Russian Committee (ROC) won bronze medals. Orta Sanchez took a 4-0 lead at half-time and then won. Fumita, who was trying to win his country, was the No. 1 seed and two world champions.
