Travel Buddies Slammed For Clicking a Risky Shot from Edge of a High Infinity Pool
Beautifully describing the thrilling photo, the couple wrote that it is only we who know our own body, strength and our capabilities.
An Instagram couple have come under public scanner for sharing an Instagram shot that captures them posing at the edge of a really high infinity pool. The guy Kody Workman who is standing inside the pool is holding his partner Kelly Castille who is hanging outside the high pool. She has no support except that she’s being held by Kody.
The captivating image which was clicked in Kayon Jungle Resort in Ubud, Bali had been shared on social media on Tuesday. Beautifully describing the thrilling photo, the couple wrote that it is only we who know our own body, strength and our capabilities. Based on this we should not replicate every action or path that we witness through others. Our most important principle is “discernment.” “At the end of the day we are to hold ourselves accountable for the decisions that we make.”
Though the image was captivating and it was beautifully described yet it didn’t appeal to many viewers as the safety factor was focussed upon. They targeted the couple for being irresponsible and for putting their lives at risk just for a photo. Another viewer said that people mindlessly do things just for fame. One commenter said, “Your 'greatest sense of life' is obviously not common sense.”
Seeing the outpour of critical comments, the couple soon had to defend their swimming pool act. They spoke to Fox news saying that they felt safe doing the stunt for two reasons. First being that there was another pool right below where Kelly was hanging. So, assuming Kelly fell, she would have fallen right into the pool.
The pool below was cropped to make the image appear more adventurous and thrilling for the viewers. Secondly, the act was thought over a period of days hence there was a lot of planning that had gone into the stunt. The couple explained that the worst that could have happened was Kelly falling into the pool below and she would’ve run up the stairs to try the stunt once again. The couple explained that they were slow and had taken plenty of precautions.
When Kody was slammed for putting Kelly’s life at risk while he safely remained inside the pool, he replied back saying, “What is probably most surprising to any audience is that this photo was actually Kelly's idea, we are both in good shape, we know our bodies and in turn, we know our limits.” One female viewer defended Kody by saying that it would certainly be difficult for a woman to hold her partner in that position. The couple had also posted a disclaimer alongside the image that not every act should be replicated.
When viewers learned that there was another pool below, there began an outpour of positive responses from commenters. One commenter posted, “Amazing Photos. Glad there is a pool below.” Another said, “You guys are amazing. And Yes, I know, there is a pool below.” One viewer described that the photo looked dangerous but it actually wasn’t. “Because you both obviously have talent for what you do and to risk your lives for attention is never worth the risk of your lives. Keep taking the seemingly “dangerous” but actually not dangerous shots. Beautiful work guys!” he said.
The travel bloggers Kelly Castille, 33, and Kody Workman, 32, are based in Bali, but are originally from Louisiana and Michigan respectively.
