Tremors Were Felt in Assam’s Morigaon, the Second Quake in 2 Days
Yet another strong quake felt in Assam recorded at 5.6 Richter Scale after a 5.1 recorded one day ago in the Bay of Bengal. IMD claims “Negligible” after no severity of damages was found.
An earthquake struck in Assam’s Morigaon and the recorded Richter scale was close to 5.6. According to the sources, the event happened at 2:25 am and a depth of 16 kilometers. The National Institute of Seismology claimed that having some aftershocks can result in even more fatality and urged people to stay calm.
"EQ of M: 5.0, On: 27/02/2025 02:25:40 IST, Lat: 26.28 N, Long: 92.24 E, Depth: 16 Km, Location: Morigaon, Assam," claimed NCS about the earthquake. Users around the area took to social media posts asking and reviewing the incident. There were different types of reactions from the audiences. Users also supported Assam and claimed any help.
A day before, seismic activity was recorded near the Bay of Bangela, and many states including West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar felt shivering tremors. Strong tremors were felt in Kolkata and its adjoining cities. The recorded energy of the quake was close to 5.1 on the Richter scale stuck around 6:10 am.
"EQ of M: 5.1, On: 25/02/2025 06:10:25 IST, Lat: 19.52 N, Long: 88.55 E, Depth: 91 Km, Location: Bay of Bengal," claimed NCS on the previous quake. Both the quakes did not cause any form of inconvenience or devastate property. Moreover, the IMD called it a negligible instance and very little damage has been caused.
People panicked throughout and many residents were seen getting out of their homes and hurling the streets to stay safe from collapsing buildings. The shock remained active for very little time. Users on social media shared their ordeal. While some claimed of witnessed a strong wave and then calmness some could not feel the shivers because of it.
