During the Medtronic conference in Los Angeles recently, an eminent Indian American Dr Sampat Shivangi introduced 37-year-old Gabbard, saying she could be the next President of the United States.

The US Presidential election is going to be more decisive as many new names as the candidate for the most powerful position of the most powerful country are coming up and in the list of efficient candidates, the name of Tulsi Gabbard has now popped up as the prospective candidate. She will be the first Hindu lawmaker, who represents Hawaii in the US Congress, if she considers running for the American presidency in 2020.

During the Medtronic conference in Los Angeles recently, an eminent Indian American Dr. Sampat Shivangi introduced 37-year-old Gabbard, saying she could be the next President of the United States, the announcement was followed by a standing ovation by the audience.

Dr. Sampat Shivangi said, “She has been a fresh voice in the Democratic Party, with her support for US-India relations, her opposition to the war in Iraq, her opposition to arms sales to Saudi Arabia and her more recent vigorous opposition to among the rebels in Syria”.

The four times Congresswoman from Hawaii, Tulsi Gabbard, while addressing the gathering though has neither confirmed nor denied, that she will be running for Presidential election in 2020. But her supporters are of the belief that the decision on this may be taken before Christmas or afterwards.

According to internal sources, she and her team are reaching out to the prospective donors, including a large number of Indian Americans and volunteers to start an impressive campaign for the 2020 election. Tulsi Gabbard’s popularity among Indian Americans is huge and the Hindu community is considered the richest ethnic group after Jewish Americans.

She is not an Indian or Hindu by birth, she was born in American Samoa to a Catholic father, Mike Gabbard, who was also a Hawaii State Senator and her mother, Carol Porter Gabbard, an American who practices Hinduism. At the age of two Tulsi Gabbard moved to Hawaii and later embraced Hinduism as a teenager. She is well versed in the Hindu scriptures. 

If she declares her Presidential candidature, she would be the first Hindu candidate ever from a prominent party to announce her entry into the race for White House and if elected in 2020, she would be the youngest ever and the first woman to be elected as the US President.

Recently, she was elected to the US House of Representatives for the fourth time. When she was the first elected as a US lawmaker, she had taken her oath on the Bhagwat Gita.
