Twitter Users Target Anu Malik for Copying Israel’s National Anthem

Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won Israel’s first-ever Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics. 

As a routine, the country’s flag was raised and Israel’s national anthem was played during the award ceremony. 

After this event, however, famous music composer Anu Malik’s name began trending high on Twitter. 

It was because smart Indian netizens were quick to discover that Anu Malik’s song ‘Mera Mulk Mera Desh’ from the film Diljale is copied from Israel’s national anthem Hatikvah. 

Twitter users seized the opportunity and had some fun at Anu Malik’s expense by creating memes.

Anu Malik has been previously called out for plagiarism. So far the composer hasn’t responded to his trollers. 

Malik is an Indian National Award and a Filmfare Award winning music director. He has primarily composed music for Bollywood across various genres of films. He ruled Bollywood from 1993 to 2004. His fame skyrocketed with the song “Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein” featuring Shahrukh Khan. 

He’s scored music for numerous films like Baazigar, Border, Murder, China Gate, Begum Jaan, Kalyug, Ajnabee, Fida so on and so forth. Besides composing music, he has rapped and even sung songs for several films. 

His work however began reducing after 2005. Despite being one of the most popular music directors of India, Malik’s work is often riddled in controversies. He’s accused of using music created by other composers such as A R Rehman and Pakistani musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Anu has denied the plagiarism allegations maintaining that he’s always been inspired by other artists’ work. He expressed that “no one in this world is original” and claimed that all similarities are due to there being “just seven notes in music.”
