Uma Thurman Releases Graphic Video Of Car Crash That Happened 15 Years Ago On ‘Kill Bill’ Sets

Actress Uma Thurman recently shared a graphic video of her famed accident, on the sets of ‘Kill Bill’, in her Instagram account. The complete footage which is quite graphic for certain audience shows her struggling to control the fast moving car leading her to crash into a tree. She was seen lying unconscious after the accident.  The actress sustained permanent injuries to her neck and knees. She also suffered concussions as a result of the accident. The footage was handed to her by director Quentin Tarantino himself as he wanted to help her out with the New York Times article in which she has shared details of the car crash. She didn’t forget to mention that Tarantino was deeply regretful over the whole incident. It was in this article, that Uma Thurman accused producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

The details of the fateful accident

Since the time the details of the accident emerged in The New York Times article, Tarantino has been receiving criticism. In his defense, the Director made it clear that it was him who gave the footage to Uma Thurman to assist her with the New York Times article. He said “Uma and I had talked about it, for a long period of time, deciding how she was going to do it. She wanted clarity on what happened in that car crash, after all these years,” he said.

Revealing the details of the accident, he explained that he never considered the act a stunt because it just involved driving. He was confident that Uma Thurman would be able to pull off this act. However, when Uma expressed her own fears about the act, Tarantino personally drove down the road to test it. He thought that the road was okay and safe. But he was wrong.

“I told her the road was a straight line. I told her it would be safe. And it wasn't. I was wrong. I didn't force her into the car. She got into it because she trusted me. And she believed me”, he said.

“We did the shot. And she crashed. At first, no one really knew what happened. After the crash, when Uma went to the hospital, I was feeling in total anguish at what had happened. Watching her fight for the wheel… remembering me hammering about how it was safe and she could do it. Emphasizing that it was a straight road, a straight road… the fact that she believe me, and I literally watched this little S curve pop up. And it spins her like a top. It was heartbreaking. Beyond one of the biggest regrets of my career, it is one of the biggest regrets of my life.” The crash had left a scar on their friendship. He said “It wasn't like we didn't talk. But a trust was broken.”

Thurman supports Tarantino but accuses Weinstein

In her Instagram post, Uma Thurman said the director did the right thing by sharing the footage. She explained that Quentin Tarantino was regretful and remorseful about the event. He had complete knowledge that the act of making the video public could cause him personal harm; however he had the courage to share the video with her. Further she accused producers- Lawrence Bender, E. Bennett Walsh, and Harvey Weinstein for the cover up, for lying and for destroying evidence. She revealed that she was pressured into driving the car. She also highlighted that she had a toxic relationship with Harvey Weinstein and mentioned details about his sexual misconduct. Uma Thurman has handed over the video to the police in the hope that they’ll be held accountable for the damage the whole incident caused her over the years.
