US National Who Killed an Indian Student Turns Himself in at Police Station

An American citizen surrendered to the U.S. police on Saturday for killing a man of Indian origin by the name of Abhishek Sudesh Bhat.

The killer who goes by the name of Eric Turner, 42, surrendered to the San Bernardino police department.

Abhishek Sudesh, 25, was completing his Master’s degree in Computer Science at the California State University in San Bernardino. He was shot in a motel on Thursday afternoon where he was supposedly working. He was attacked at a time when he was looking after the motel on behalf of a friend.

The young lad was a resident of Kuvempunagar in Mysuru and he had another four months left to complete his post-graduation course. He had moved to America around two years ago.

The family was in a state of shock when they received a call around 11:30 pm on Thursday informing them about the death of their son.

The police are still investigating the reason behind the murder and Eric Turner will be produced before the court on Tuesday.

San Bernardino police sergeant Albert Tello said, “The suspect was identified and turned himself to authorities on the morning of Saturday. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.”

The family of Abhishek has set up a GoFundMe page and they’ve successfully collected more than USD 39,000.

His family said, “He had decided to go abroad to study with the only aim and ambition to help and be there for his family. He worked hard day and night to fulfill this dream. He wanted to fund his younger brother Abhishreshta's medical education fees apart from being financially available for everyone in his family”, the page read.
