US President Donald Trump Mocks #MeToo Movement

#MeToo movement has taken the shape of a global movement now, but US President Donald Trump seems no serious with the issue and recently he has mocked the #MeToo movement and intensified his criticism about the campaign against sexual harassment and assault.

US President Donald Trump claims that #MeToo prevents him from using certain words and phrases because of the movement, which has taken the shape of a global movement with every new day, individuals from across the field are coming out with their story of sexual harassments.

During an election rally in Pennsylvania, President Donald Trump mocked the movement by saying, “There’s an expression, but under the rules of #MeToo, I am not allowed to use that expression anymore. I can't do it”, then he said, “the girl that got away. It’s the person that got away. The old days, it was a little different than Pennsylvania to it”.

Then focusing on media President Trump said, he can use the original phrase but that will be not for Media, as if they hear him, they will make some spicy stories out of it, as he said, “I would do it except for these people up there. They would say,' did you hear what President Trump said? Did you hear what he said?”.

The #MeToo movement which came into force after sexual assault allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein last year. After the revelation of the allegations against Producer Weinstein, the movement inspired many women to reveal their own stories of sexual assault, but Donald Trump has recently taken shots at the #MeToo movement by expressing concern for men who are accused of sexual assault or harassment.

Recently the case of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, where the Senate considered the accusation of college professor Christine Blasey Ford’s that Kavanaugh has sexually assaulted her. Commenting on this issue too, the US President had said that the allegations from Ms. Ford on Kavanaugh and other women have made the situation, “very scary time for young men in America”.

Earlier in several occasions, the US President Donald Trump had mocked the #MeToo movement. In a rally in the month of July this year, he did while mocking Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, if she wins the Democratic nomination in 2020 and they will debate over the issue.

During the 2016 US Presidential campaign, nearly 13 women had come forward and accused Donald Trump of misbehavior, ranging from sexual harassment to sexual assault. The President though denies all the allegations against him.
